Access to Paper Recycling by State
Since 1994, the American Forest & Paper Association has performed a series of national surveys to measure the extent and track the growth of access by the public to community-level paper and paperboard recycling. In recent iterations, the survey has also addressed the prevalence of single-stream collection in curbside recycling systems. The most recent survey was conducted in 2014. Over time, the Community Access Survey has been able to capture:
- The high level of access that Americans have to community paper and paperboard recycling programs
- The considerable expansion of paper and paperboard types accepted in existing community recycling programs
- The growth in residential single-stream collection
