boise, inc.- jackson, alabama paper mill

Boise Jackson has its own recycling facility where it processes approximately 120,000 tons of recovered paper each year.  For more than a decade, the mill has sponsored a Recycling Road Show, where hourly employees from the recycling facility go into local schools for hands-on demonstrations about paper recycling.

Students see examples of the many different types of paper that can be recycled, learn how the process works, and even get the opportunity to create their own pulp and make a sheet of recycled paper.

The program has been presented to nearly 4,000 local students.

The mill provides large blue recycling containers that are placed throughout county schools and vocational centers.  Students at each school assist with sorting and placing the paper in the collection containers for pick-up by Boise Jackson.

While the program was only fully implemented in the fourth quarter of 2007, five tons of high-quality sorted white ledger paper have already been collected from local schools.

Boise Inc. was formed following the purchase of the paper and packaging assets of Boise Cascade, L.L.C., by Aldabra 2 Acquisition Corp. in February
